Synchronized Estrus

Yikes! Both girls, Poka and Cuddle Bug have been cycling non-stop. Yowling at wee hours of the night and rolling over on the floor. I had no plans breeding them yet, but this is the second cycle for Cuddles and the third for Poka. They're old enough, but I wanted Cuddles to be a year old (this July) before I breed her. But they leave me no choice, I'm afraid of pyometra! So I brought Poka and Moochie to a secluded area in the cattery (queening pen) and let nature takes it course. The next day, I put Cuddle Bug and Moochie together.

I have no idea (yet) if these breeding was a success. We'd have to wait four (4) weeks and see if we're going to expect a litter soon. Finally, the cattery has calmed down a bit!

Man of the House

Yesterday afternoon, Quails Nest Mo-Shu-Shi of Pattnchat (aka Moochie) has finally joined our household. He's a Seal Point Devon Rex male with sparkling blue eyes, co-owned with Ms. Debbie Van Patten and bred by Ms. Barbara Morrow. I would like to thank both these wonderful ladies for your friendship, confidence and trust in my breeding program. There kindness and generosity is unmatched and I am forever in there debt.

Here's a picture (above) of Moochie I took yesterday. He's still in quarantine (my bedroom) and will slowly introduce him to the girls in a couple days. He seem to like the ladies of the house, he's been sniffing their rear ends (good sign, so I guess) earlier when I brought him in the cattery in his carrier. I am confident that he'll sire beautiful and healthy kittens for our cattery. Wish us the best!

News from the Feb 10-11 Cat Show in Santa Rosa, CA

Note: Originally posted last Feb 11, 2007

I just got back from the "Call of the Wild" Cat Show held at Santa Rosa, California. It's about 75 miles away from San Francisco, part of the Sonoma County --- known for there good wines. It was a two day- 8 ring show (huh, what a week end!), 6 all-breed and 3 specialty CFA judges were present.

Along with me was Cuddle Bug (Pattnchat Cuddle Bug of Karastan), our Red McTabby Devon Rex Kitten. I was also suppose to show Sapphire, but she wasn't feeling very well and decided to pull her out. Our cats health is much more important than the show points, so she stayed home and enjoying her sleep on a heated bed. But we still had a wonderful time at the show, all 225 entries were in attendance. Tons of gorgeous felines from all over the continental US. It was amazing!

The first day of the show, Cuddle Bug made it to three final rings and the today she got one more final. Four (4) finals out of eight (8) rings, I was on cloud nine! Here are the results of the "Call of the Wild" show:

Judge Vicky Abelson (LH/SH) - 7th Best SH Kitten
Judge Larry Swanson (AB) - 8th Best AB Kitten
Judge Brian Pearson (AB) - 10th Best AB Kitten
Judge Karen Talbert (SH) - 6th Best SH Kitten

Ms. Debbie (Cuddles Breeder) and I were so proud of our Pixie. She dazzled the judges ring and garnered some points. This week end was a real "Call of the Wild" success...

News from January 21, 2007 Cat Show in Woodland

Note: Originally posted last Jan 21, 2007

Yesterday, was a fusion of both chaos and joy. The cat show produced by the Poppy State Cat Club was a one day-six ring show. Woodland is good two (2) hour drive, got up at 4:30 AM to get ready and be at the show by 8:30 in the morning. Halfway driving, Cuddle Bug ( Red McTabby Devon Rex ) accidentally had a "call of nature." I was not worried at first since I have a litter box in the car. Guess what? She accidentally stepped on her "poop." I had to stop in the middle of nowhere to clean her up and to get rid of the smell. Just when I thought that the worse was over, Sapphire ( Platinum Point Tonkinese) went into the litterbox and stepped on the "poop." Yayayayay ! Thank heavens, I have enough alcohol wipes to clean up the mess. This incident cost me 30-40 minutes of my traveling time. Grrrrrr !

Luckily, there was no traffic on the way to Woodland and I was able to drive 90 miles per hour. I got to the show hall 5 minutes before the end of "check in." Talk about --- in the nick of time. The show started in time, yet it started slow. Judges were quite meticulous about the kitten class, taking a good look and critic of the line up.

Cuddle Bug got four (4) BEST of BREED, an 8th BEST SHORTHAIR KITEN in Judge Ed Davis ring and just when we were about to leave; Cuddles got another 8th BEST ALL-BREED KITTEN under Judge Maj-Britt Stein. Sapphire also got into a final, though some Tonkinese exhibitors were calling her "Big Bertha." She got 5th BEST SHORTHAIR CAT in Judge Ed Davis, as on OPEN (amazing aloha!). It's very seldom that judges would use an OPEN in a final and I was flabbergasted. She also got her six (6) winner ribbons to get her CFA CHAMPION title. At the end of the day --- I was dead beat, happy and proud of our BABIES !

New Katz on the Blog

After a series of disappointments with our previous blog site, we decided it was about time for us to move on and put an end to all the hassles. I don't know how many times I stared on the screen and the sand timer, waiting for the page to change. What's worst, the site is always down. Unable to log in and make any necessary changes. Grrrrrr !!!! Hopefully, our new home on the Blog won't disappoint us.
